Voile de Violette

I’m working on Voile de Violette and had promised testers to two people.  I’m looking through my notes for your addresses.  If you see this, send me some email.  🙂  I have a version that’s similar to the original but with the change I was hoping to make.   Should be ready to send out a few…

Jour Ensoleille

Jour Ensoleille is on the site now.  It’s a woodsy floral with tuberose, orange blossom and jasmine on a base of oakmoss, sandalwood, vetiver, labdanum, and green leaves.  It has a bit of a chypre or vintage feel to me (minus the bergamot and coumarin), and makes me think of late summer or fall. We…

Fall News

The shopping cart is up and quite a few new scents are on the Fragrance page. More scents are on the way. There’s a new interview about Sonoma Scent Studio on the PerfumeCritic blog: http://perfumecritic.com/joomla2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=169&Itemid=50http://perfumecritic.com/joomla2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=169&Itemid=50/ We have new jars for the shea cream and will post a photo soon. Back to filling orders…

Progress

Took that first replacement printer back. It was giving strange error messages and having lots of problems. For example, it said “paper jam” when scanning directly to the computer with no paper involved. Seemed to be buggy software (consumer reviews did warn of this happening to some others, but I’d hoped I’d be one of…

update

The formulas are done for all the scents on the fragrance page that have shopping cart buttons. I’ve finished tweaking those and just need to finish larger batches of some.  An additional list of upcoming scents is given below that to summarize the ones in progress. Thursday night I had a power surge that got right…

Update

I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while.  We’re planning to open in a couple weeks with a slightly limited scent list until the remaining scents are done; that’ll get the finished scents out for sampling and purchase before the fall season begins. The new Jour Ensoleille, Encens Tranquille, and Champagne de Bois are done…

This ‘n That

Got my pen tablet back from repair! Wacom was great about fast turn-around. For anyone with sore wrists who can write by hand but can’t type much, these tablets are nice. They’re also great for graphics and photo editing, though I have much to learn in those areas. Still waiting on the high speed internet….

New floral blend

I’m excited about a new floral scent I’ve been working on — an update of Jour Ensoleille.  I wanted this fragrance to keep the same character but be a little more sophisticated.  It’s been a floral scent with orange blossom and jasmine on a lightly wooded base with cedar, sandal, amber, and musk.  I wanted the orange blossom to be softer…

Nagarmotha

Yesterday I read about the upcoming release of a new scent for men by Tom Ford, and apparently the press was that it used cypriol for the first time in a scent. Cypriol is a natural ingredient also known as nagarmotha or Cyperus and has been used for ages. I’ve tried it from several sources and…

Champagne

I apologize for not posting more regularly.  Last weekend my brother and his family visited for the holiday weekend. Was fun to spend time with them.  My older niece really enjoyed the garden, smelling all the roses and cutting a mixed bouquet.  My Dad had built two swings in the oak trees that they played…

Progress Report

Happy Mother’s Day to the Moms!  Still very busy blending.  Thought I’d give an update here and I’ll keep a running list of new scents on the What’s New page.  I’m still deciding on a name for the new scent with woods, aldehydes, and subtle florals.    New and Updated Scents: Encens Tranquille: We’ve replaced the old Incense scent with…

Naming quandaries

One new scent is about done, so it’s time for me to come up with a name.  The notes include sandal, cedar, frankincense, jasmine, carnation, labdanum, musk, and soft aldehydes. It’s not overly floral but not intense woods either, and the aldehydes add a little effervescence without being heavy.  A couple testers have liked the scent a lot and commented on…
